Have questions? We have the answers!
There are very real financial needs that we have as a church that create urgency in us moving forward with a campaign, however it is far more than a financial endeavor. We are seeking and trusting God for the future of Ignite. As we take bold steps of faith together, we will see a culture of generosity, unity, and expectation grow within Ignite. This initiative (campaign) is an opportunity to deepen our trust in God, see Him move in miraculous ways, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
We are trusting God to provide through the generosity of His people. The goal amount has been prayerfully set because we believe that amount will help us meet needs and move the mission forward. If God provides more than our goal, we will be able to move forward with opportunities beyond what is outlined in our Financial Goal. If we receive less than our goal, we will prioritize the most essential aspects of the initiative, ensuring that every dollar still makes a significant impact. We remain committed to moving forward in faith, trusting that God will provide in His perfect timing.
You will be asked to make your commitment on Celebration Sunday, April 6. In the weeks leading up to our Celebration (and Commitment) Sunday, we are asking you to enter into a spiritual process of seeking the Lord, praying about how He wants you to step out in faith, and asking God how He wants you to contribute financially to the Fuel Initiative. Our Fuel commitments will be given over the next three years.
May will be our “First Give Month” and we will officially begin our 3-year giving period on Sunday, May 4. However, gifts may be given at any time if they are designated for the Fuel Initiative.
We know that our boiler/chiller could give out at any time. An important part of this initiative stems from our desire to be prepared for that need so that we can continue to live out the mission of Jesus together. In Central Illinois, we cannot continue to do ministry without heat (or air conditioning). If the boiler/ chiller gives out, that will become our priority.
When Ignite purchased our current building from Vale in 2021 we were given a loan through Converge (the church planting and mission organization we are affiliated with). The loan is a 5-year ballooning note which comes due in April of 2026. With the rise in interest rates, we are looking to pay down debt when we refinance so that our monthly payments do not increase.
Ignite was started with a heart to plant other churches. Studies have shown that planting a new church is the best way to reach people who do not yet know Jesus. Although a church plant would likely be a few years down the road, we have been praying about “hot spots” and areas of need. We desire to help fuel a new church (not completely fund it) with the Fuel Initiative.
A regular tithe/gift (see Prov. 3:9) is what fuels the ongoing ministry of Ignite - our worship services, discipleship, community outreach, and day-to-day operations. On the other hand, giving to the Fuel Initiative is above and beyond that, i.e. a special offering. Our Fuel commitments are a faith step to invest in the future God is calling us to, and will allow us to expand and prepare for the next season of impact. For Biblical examples of this kind of offering, see Acts 4:33-35 and Ex. 36:1-6. Both forms of generosity work together to grow God’s Kingdom and shape our hearts in unique ways.
Trust God to grow your faith in this process. The best place to begin is with a commitment to give regularly to the Fuel Initiative (whether you choose to give weekly, biweekly, monthly, or annually). Many people find that starting with a percentage of their income helps to build a rhythm of generosity. The key is to take a step of faith and allow God to work in your heart as you experience the joy of giving.
Of course! We have a variety of ways to help you handle your finances with biblical wisdom. We are happy to provide a mentor who will assist you in determining a system that can help you save, spend, and give with the Kingdom in mind. Use the Communication Card in the seatback pocket to ask for help with your finances, and someone will contact you to start the process.
We would encourage you to set up your giving online. It is a safe, easy way to give on a recurring basis. However, if you prefer to give by check simply write FUEL in the memo. We are also happy to provide giving envelopes for your Fuel commitment if you prefer.
If you encounter unexpected circumstances that make it impossible for you to fulfill your commitment, we simply ask that you let the office know and we will adjust plans accordingly. We are a people of faith and grace. We will celebrate every gift with joy, and continue to trust God’s provision.
Yes. Generosity comes in many forms, and we want you to be able to give in a way that aligns with your resources and heart for God’s Kingdom. If you are interested in giving property, stocks, or other items of value, please complete the Fuel Commitment Card and include a description. We will contact you later to discuss in more detail.
